In Balabanovo, Kaluga region, on Thursday, June 1, the first cameras were laid in the ice arena of Ilya Averbukh. The first visitors will be able to come skiing in December this year, according to the region’s Ministry of Sports.

“On June 1, the solemn start of the construction of a new sports facility took place – an ice arena and an open seasonal skating rink in Balabanovo. It is symbolic that this facility began to be built on Children’s Day, in December the first visitors of all ages, and first of all children, will be able to come here,” the ministry said.

A subsidy from the federal budget was allocated for the construction of the complex in the Kaluga Region within the framework of the federal project “Business Sprint (I Choose Sports)”, implemented by the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation. The project became the first concession agreement in the region in the field of physical culture and sports.

With the new complex, it will be possible to skate in the cold season, and in the warm season – on roller skates and bicycles. The school will host events with the participation of the skater Averbukh himself.

Ilya Averbukh is a famous Russian figure skater. His company will act as a concessionaire in the implementation of the project.
