In August, the federal budget was executed with a surplus of 230 billion rubles – Kommersant

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin held meeting on federal budget issues. He reported that in August non-oil and gas revenues exceeded 1.82 trillion rubles. – 56.5% more than a year earlier. Thanks to this, the budget was completed with a surplus of about 230 billion rubles.

The consolidated balance of the regions gave about another 140 billion rubles. Oil and gas revenues have also recovered, the prime minister said. Expenses at the end of August amounted to about 2.24 trillion rubles.

According to Mikhail Mishustin, this suggests that the economic growth that began in the third quarter of this year has consolidated. He noted that, according to the Ministry of Economy, in July, GDP in annual terms exceeded the level of 2022 by 5%, and the level of two years ago – by almost 1%. Over the seven months of this year, GDP grew by more than 2% compared to the same period in 2022.

“A sustainable course for positive changes allows us to count on the execution of the federal budget this year with a deficit at the level of the initial forecast of 2% of GDP. According to the Ministry of Economic Development, against this background we can talk about the continuation and even improvement of these trends next year,” said Mr. Mishustin. According to his forecast, from January 2023 the federal budget deficit will be below 1.5% of GDP.

At the meeting, Mikhail Mishustin demanded that the draft three-year budget be completed as soon as possible in order to submit it to parliament at the end of September.
