The preliminary amount of damage from flooding caused by heavy rainfall in August for the agricultural industry of the Primorsky Territory is estimated at 900 million rubles, said the region’s Minister of Agriculture Andrei Bronts.
“36 thousand hectares of agricultural crops were lost, mariculture enterprises and reindeer herders in the Khasan municipal district were damaged. Preliminary damage from the flood already amounts to 900 million rubles. We count on support from the federal budget,” Mr. Bronz quotes press office government of Primorye.
According to the official, calculations of losses for compensation will be sent to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. In total, applications have already been received from 265 affected agricultural enterprises.

On September 3, at a meeting chaired by the Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev, it was stated that in total 23 municipalities were affected by floods in Primorye, 5,620 residential buildings and 10,255 household plots were flooded in 105 settlements, and 46 bridges were damaged. More than 44 thousand residents of the region suffered from the flood. Damage to the region by the Primorye authorities is preliminary was assessed at 10 billion rubles. Six people died as a result of flooding in the region.
