In Argentina, trade unions will hold a national strike

A national strike is planned in Argentina on January 24, called by trade unions in response to a series of reforms proposed by the new government. Previously, the country’s President Javier Miley introduced more than 300 amendments aimed at liberalizing the economy. These reforms cover various areas and are currently under consideration in Parliament.
One of the important points of the decree is the abolition of the current law on rental housing, which has caused dissatisfaction on the part of both tenants and landlords. Other changes include deregulation of prices on sensitive goods and reforms to labor laws. It also opens the way for the privatization of state-owned companies.
The strike is expected to primarily affect the transport system. Buses and commuter trains will continue to operate until 19:00 on January 24. Air traffic will be suspended from noon to midnight. Factories, enterprises and theaters will also join the strike.
