Almaty metro work suspended for inspection of tunnels after earthquake
The Almaty metro reported that metro work was suspended to inspect the tunnels after the earthquake that occurred today.
It is clarified that the tunnel inspection work is carried out for traffic safety purposes by metro specialists.
“The work of the metro will be resumed within three hours after receiving permission from the Department of Emergency Situations for access to workplaces,” the statement notes.
Metro employees added that “no permits were recorded on the metro territory.” All passengers were evacuated.
