In Abkhazia complained about the behavior of Russian tourists

Representatives of small businesses in Abkhazia, employed in the service and tourism sectors, often meet with inadequate requests, rudeness and bad manners of Russians who have come to the republic on vacation. They spoke about the most striking cases in an interview with aif.ru.

The owner of a large hotel in Gagra noted that many visitors refuse to pay for food. Recognizing that his hotel is not cheap and breakfast for one person costs 700 rubles, he, nevertheless, watches with amazement at people who enter the dining room with trunks, collect food there, and when they are stopped and asked to pay, they are indignant. “A man comes in the morning with bags and starts to pick up food from the buffet,” he gave an example. – Stuffs everything. We stop, we are indignant – I came to eat, I have the right! As the hotel staff established, this vacationer came to the sea with a company of eight people, and they paid only for one breakfast. Tourists, believing that they came up with a super idea, decided that one person would carry food to the rest of the hotel dining room and thus save everyone.

Attempts to scam food at the hotel are generally a frequent story, despite the fact that its customers are wealthy people. “Here, a deputy settled with us, I won’t give his last name, but he is a well-known person throughout Russia,” an Abkhaz hotelier gave another example. “I’ve got so much food on my plate that it’s falling off.” When the staff of the dining room stopped the resourceful man, he became angry. He said that his wife was sick and he wanted to pamper her with delicious dishes. He was told that he only paid for his breakfast. “The deputy turned purple all over, yelled, began to scatter eggs from the plate all over the hall,” the owner of the hotel shared his memories. “And this is the show we have all the time.” Why wealthy hotel guests have an indestructible desire to eat for free and save a penny, the hotel owner does not understand. The businessman claims that for this reason the all-inclusive system will never work in Abkhazia, because otherwise local hoteliers will simply go bankrupt.

With regard to those who want to eat at someone else’s expense, Russians have complaints from the owners of Abkhaz cafes. As one of them told the publication in Pitsunda, one day a group of friends came into his establishment, ordered food, ate everything, but refused to pay, saying that they cook better at home and his food is tasteless. “I say – why then did they gobble up everything to the crumbs and wipe the sauce on the plate with bread? They would say right away! the businessman retorted. “They start cursing.” The man had to call the police. And as a result, scammers threw money and ears on the floor. Then the businessman learned that they also wanted to pull off a similar number in a nearby cafe. “The system seems to have been invented – to eat, and then, under any pretext, not to pay,” concluded the owner of the cafe.

He also met Russians who “make kings out of themselves”, complain that no one knows how to cook, serve too. “Why then do I have dinner, listen? Let them drink their smoothies in Moscow, ”the businessman was indignant. He is also put into a stupor by the desire of vacationing girls to come to a cafe from the beach in a wet swimsuit, from which “everything is visible” and water flows to the floor. When the businessman hung up a warning stating that it was forbidden to enter the cafe in bathing suits, Russians on vacation began to quarrel, “especially if they were drunk.” “You are all rogue here in Abkhazia, you owe everything to us, you exist at our expense – and you are still dissatisfied with something!” – the owner of the cafe quoted their arguments.

The driver of the minibus from Sukhum claims that tourists from Moscow and St. Petersburg show a particularly arrogant attitude towards the inhabitants of Abkhazia: they say that people from big cities came to them “in the village” and because of this now everyone should bow to them. “I received an order to take people from Sukhum to Gagra,” he gives an example. – We had to pick up a few vacationers from five hotels. And then I drove up to the hotel, but there was no person. Wait – it doesn’t work. I ask the administration – where is he? Called out of the room, he says – uh, you wait for me. I inform you – dear, then I will leave without you, I have other passengers sitting. He came angry with a suitcase, I loaded it. And he screams: nothing, could wait, animal! Every dirty driver of a lousy minibus will indicate to me! Then the man could not stand it, threw his suitcase out of the car, hit him in the face and left. Then he received a call from the control room and was told that the tourist had complained and now the police would start looking into the matter. However, the driver said that he did not care who would do what, because he no longer had the strength to work with such clients. “But why does he insult me in front of all the people?” the taxi driver was outraged.

A lot of surprise is also caused by the requests from vacationers for cheap rental housing. One 73-year-old pensioner complained to the publication that she was renting a room for 1,000 rubles a day. At the same time, Russians ask if Wi-Fi and breakfast are included in the money, if the room has air conditioning and other amenities. “Darling, I am not a Hilton, but an Abkhaz grandmother! You pay a thousand rubles, and also prepare breakfast for you, and connect Wi-Fi, and install air conditioning for 30 thousand?” the woman wonders.

A 58-year-old seller selling churchkhela and homemade wine at the Gagra market is offended by the fact that Russian tourists are sure that everything in Abkhazia is sold of poor quality, fake and unkempt. She does not deny that scammers are also found among local residents, but why immediately suspect everyone that the product is tasteless. “I don’t want to offend people, but during the Soviet Union there were more well-mannered vacationers,” she said. “They didn’t treat us like we were nobody here. Everyone in Abkhazia will tell you: yes, our service is lame, we admit it. But we are trying to improve. Let the holidaymakers also try, otherwise it’s dishonest.”

According to the author of the article, despite the existing problems in the service in Abkhazia, it must be admitted that in recent years the situation has been improving in this area. At the same time, it should be noted that the Russians at the resort, especially if they drink, behave very differently. The most important task is to learn mutual respect, the author of the article noted, since this will make the tourism industry in Abkhazia better.
