The second meeting of the season with an opponent from Kursk took place on the home floor of the Chelyabinsk team

As part of the regular season of the Fonbet Russian Championship – Super League, Chelbasket and Rusichi played each other in the first round. Then the meeting took place in Kursk, and the South Urals confidently beat the hosts 105:76.

The second confrontation was not so easy. For a long time, the Rusichi led the score, and the Chelyabinsk team had to constantly win back. At times the opponent’s advantage reached 11 points, and by the middle of the last quarter the lead was +7.

Chelbasket managed to reduce the gap, and during one of the spurts Pavel Koltsov earned five points. The ending of the meeting turned out to be quite tense: a minute before the siren, which meant the end of the match, the Rusichi were ahead 69:67. The Chelyabinsk team equalized: Dmitry Zolobin sent the ball into the basket after a miss by the visiting player. The decisive shot was taken by Koltsov, who managed to put the ball in the hoop just a second before the end.

Chelbasket BC player Ivan Evstigneev noted that it was very important for the team to win this match.

“It’s a difficult game for us, despite the fact that the opponent came to us without winning the championship. But, as they say, a wounded animal is doubly dangerous. The opponents fought for every match. We are very glad that we survived; in the end, luck was on our side,” noted Ivan Evstigneev.
