Roskomnadzor (RKN) detected 168 leaks of personal data in 2023, reported “RIA News” with reference to the department. As a result of these leaks, 300 million records were made publicly available.

According to the press service, in 2022 the RKN reviewed 87 protocols regarding leaks and imposed fines totaling more than 4.6 million rubles.

At the end of 2022, Roskomnadzor announced 140 leaks and 600 million records that were leaked online. The department noted that the growth of leaks accelerated after the start of the military operation in Ukraine. In July 2023, RIA Novosti, with reference to RKN, reported a fourfold increase in leaks, from 19 to 76 for the same period in 2022. The volume of leaks then increased 3.9 times – from 45 million to 177 million records.
