In Russia, almost 113 billion rubles in fines were imposed last year with the help of photo and video recording cameras. This is almost 8.8 million more than in the same period of 2021, according to traffic police statistics provided by TASS.
The State Traffic Inspectorate imposed a total number of fines on drivers and car owners last year in the amount of 201.2 million, which is 22 million more than in 2021. The amount of fines imposed amounted to 137 billion rubles, exceeding the same indicator of the year before last by 8.6 billion rubles.
Moscow and the Moscow region were leaders in terms of the number of fines issued: 39.4 million violations in the amount of 30.4 billion rubles are in Moscow, and 31.4 million violations in the amount of almost 19 billion rubles are in the Moscow region. Almost 38 million violations worth 28.4 billion rubles were recorded in the capital, and 30.2 million violations worth 17.2 billion rubles were recorded in the Moscow region.
The first deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Alexander Gorovoy, said that in Russia there are more than 25 thousand complexes for automatically fixing violations of traffic rules. Their use makes it possible to liquidate more than 1.5 thousand dangerous sections of roads every year. This positive trend has continued over the past four years.
