In January-March 2023, the import of new equipment from China through the customs office in Zabaikalsk increased five times, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) reported in Telegram channel.
During the first quarter, customs officers cleared over 11,000 pieces of equipment (dump trucks, buses, loaders, tractors, cranes, etc.) from China. “Priority import goods, which include equipment, are processed by customs officers as a matter of priority and as quickly as possible,” the FCS noted.
The department added that equipment is also imported through the Starotsurukhaituysky checkpoint, which reopened in the cargo direction on March 21.
Zabaikalsk-Manchuria is the largest international road checkpoint (MAPP) on the Russian-Chinese border. In March, the Manchu authorities criticized work of the checkpoint and called on the Russian Federation “together with China to solve the problem of low capacity of the border crossing.”
