“I’m with you, guys!”: a presentation of a book in memory of Vladimir Sungorkin took place in Moscow

Cheerful, charismatic, talented and punchy. This is how the colleagues of Vladimir Sungorkin, the permanent editor-in-chief of Komsomolskaya Pravda, remember him. Today, on the anniversary of his death, a book of memory “Vladimir Sungorkin: “I’m with you, guys!”

The presentation of the book took place on September 14 at the press center of Komsomolskaya Pravda. The collection includes more than fifty memories of the editor-in-chief of KP.

Sungorkin’s colleagues admit that it is still difficult for them to believe that Sunya, as those closest to him called the editor-in-chief of Komsomolskaya Pravda, is no more.

“For us, the news of his death was like a bolt from the blue. He was very strong, healthy, cheerful. “With an incredible sense of humor,” says Vladimir Solovyov, Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Russia.

According to the head of the SJR, the appearance of the title “Honored Journalist of Russia” in the country is largely the merit of Vladimir Sungorkin.

– At a meeting with the president, he handed me the ball so that I proposed to establish this title. And a month later a presidential decree was born – the titles “Honored Journalist of Russia” and “Honored Worker of Communications and Information” appeared. This happened at the suggestion of Sungorkin and with his help,” said Vladimir Solovyov.

Vladimir Sungorkin came every year to the media forum in Sochi – the largest event in the life of Russian journalism. He always drew full houses at his performances: cheerful, charismatic, it was impossible not to listen to him. A year ago, Vladimir Solovyov, as usual, called the editor-in-chief of KP to invite him to the forum:

“He said: “You see, I have a choice: either to come to you in Sochi, or to the taiga, following in the footsteps of Vladimir Arsenyev.” He always loved travel, gatherings around the fire with songs and stories, he always wanted to go there. In the end, I decided to go to the taiga. When I found out about his death, I thought: maybe if he had gone to Sochi and this attack had happened to him there, they would have managed to save him.

General Director of the radio station “Moscow Speaks” Vladimir Mamontov noted: facts speak best about the scale of Vladimir Sungorkin’s personality.

– Not all of the huge newspapers that existed in the USSR have survived. “Komsomolskaya Pravda” is one of those that has survived. Many modern media cannot be compared with what “KP” has become and modernized under the influence of time. The new approaches that were used in the work of the publication were largely, to a large extent, the merit of Sungorkin, said Mamontov.

He remembers Vladimir Sungorkin as a highly versatile person. Talented and unconventional, he combined his subtle creative nature with the ability to break through walls.

As for the book of memoirs about the editor-in-chief of “KP”, Vladimir Mamontov called it unique.

– This book was written by those whom he influenced. She’s truthful. There are also things there that he might not like very much. But he always said: “No, guys, it’s impossible for there to be only one opinion.” He was this and that. A caring father, a strong editorial director, punchy, subtle – all this is him: versatile and talented,” Vladimir Mamontov said about his colleague.
