Ilya Reznik wrote an open letter to Putin about the bill on the killing of stray dogs

The State Duma is considering a draft amendment to the federal law “On Responsible Treatment of Animals”. The new document proposes to allow the killing of stray animals if they pose a danger to others. The legendary poet Ilya Reznik is horrified by what is happening. As it became known to MK, Ilya Rakhmielevich turned to Vladimir Putin with a request to stop the adoption of the amendments. We publish his open letter.

“I, a resident of besieged Leningrad, People’s Artist of Russia, am writing to you with an open letter. The other day I got some terrible news. At the initiative of Deputy Sardana Avksentyeva, a draft law on the so-called “humane” euthanasia of homeless animals was submitted to the State Duma.

I don’t really understand the term “humanity” associated with murder. People of many nationalities and different faiths live in our state. From ancient times, the Russian Land was famous for people with a big soul and an open heart, who always rushed to help each other. There is such a term “friendship”. It was during the blockade that no one left anyone, everyone helped each other. Now, in our time, the main thing is to pass on this quality, the state of mind from generation to generation. At the present time, this is more important than ever.

As an Orthodox person, I strive to live according to God’s laws. And I know that murder is a mortal sin. My children are brought up in three musical theatres. The main word in our team is love. Love for the near and far, for the weak and the weak. We try to raise children in absolute love. By personal example, we show them our attitude towards the elderly and homeless animals.

At one time, my wife and I had five dogs and six cats in our house. All are handpicked. For health reasons, age animals left the disease. We pulled them all to our last breath. Euthanasia, as Orthodox people, did not even think about it. And our wards children learn kindness from us. They pick up wounded chicks, treat selected cats and dogs, leaving them with themselves or with their relatives. Arrange them in loving and kind hands.

I am outraged that some deputies, senators can support this law on killing animals. Then let’s turn to dry numbers.

Every year, many times more people die in our country at the hands of murderers, sadists, pedophiles, from drunk drivers, from traitors to our country, why can’t our country apply the death penalty to them? Why can’t we abandon some international treaties and save our citizens from murder and torture? The offender is serving time and may again commit serious crimes. Where is the logic?

Many times fewer people die from animal bites than from criminals. Allen Dulles developed a plan to destroy the USSR using propaganda methods aimed at separating nationalities and social groups, losing traditions, moral values, and moral decay of the country’s population. Russians are trying to deprive them of faith in God and traditional family values. But, thank God, we have a traditional state and this has always been supported by the authorities, and no one will ever defeat us. We are the strongest power in the world. But the internal enemy can be more destructive for our country and for future generations. What will this open Pandora’s box bring us?

Deputy Andrei Klishas appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to pay attention to the mass killing of stray animals immediately after the approval of the project on “humane” euthanasia by the Russian Government, Reznik continues. – Animals began to be killed on the streets in front of children and old people who fed these dogs and cats. They began to poison them and they died in heavy and terrible agony. What will children learn by looking at this? How many old people, seeing this, will die of heart attacks, since for many old people, animals are the only close and kindred souls.

Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich! I am writing to you because I know that you are a person who loves children, old people and animals. And you are the only one who can stop this terrible lawlessness of the soulless, immoral and lacking sympathy for weak and defenseless animals, State Duma deputies.

Apparently, it is much easier for them than to force them not to steal the budget funds that are allocated for sterilization, vaccination and the construction of shelters for homeless animals. A morally and spiritually healthy state is characterized by a humane attitude towards children, the elderly and animals, and we have always been the kindest nation in the world. I ask you to! Please stop the killing of animals all over the country. They are not to blame for anything. We are responsible for those we have tamed. People must be held accountable and punished for throwing them out on the streets of cities and for cruelty to animals. Otherwise, we will lose future generations of our Great Power. Unfortunately, the phrase – “The more I get to know people, the more I love dogs” – is becoming more relevant these days.
