Ilya Lyubimov: “The film” Vault “is the voice of a generation”

A new domestic thriller “Shelter” was released on the wide screen. Its online version can be seen from mid-December. This is a brutal movie with a sharp plot and an unpredictable ending. The action takes place today. One of the main roles in the film – Deputy Minister of Health of the Lipetsk Region Andrey Savitsky was played by theater and film actor Ilya Lyubimov. His bright work in the cinema, and there are already 73 of them, was remembered by the audience for the films “Inadequate People”, “Odyssey 1989”, “Kukotsky’s Incident”, “Don’t Be Born Beautiful”, “Boomer”. On the eve of the film’s premiere, our correspondent met with him.

– Ilya, the film “The Refuge” directed by Vladimir Tikhomirov, in which you played the role of Deputy Minister of Health of the Lipetsk Region – Andrey Savitsky, is being released in wide release. What attracted you to the plot of the picture?

“It’s a completely interesting story, written emotionally. This is a theme about revenge and timely forgiveness. Plus, the picture has a young, ambitious director in a good way. Of course, I never get tired of repeating about the charismatic plot of the film, the characters of which exist with their own mistakes and intrigues. This is what got my attention. The story is tied to our time, it has recognizable characters. It seemed to me that it is relevant and it can be shown in an interesting way.

– The role of an official is almost always negative, but you are not new to playing “bad” boys. But even in the most notorious “bad boy” there is something human. What about your hero?

– My hero is not negative, we showed what a person is ready to do in order to get his place under the sun. At one time, this character did an act in order to survive, but this circumstance had long consequences in his soul. It’s not my hero that’s bad, it’s his act that makes him that way. But it’s just an act. He’s just a lost man.

– Where does the action of the picture take place and where did the shooting take place?

— The time of action of the picture is our days, and the locations were not so interesting… I can say that one of the locations was provided by our producer in his house, and his family even took part in some episodes.

– Let’s get back to your work: you often get the role of villains, does this threaten to become a template?

– If you approach this issue from this side, then all the roles are already templates. The masks, once made in the commedia dell’arte, have not changed a bit since then. Therefore, all images are, in a certain sense, templates. But the actors hiding behind them are different.

— What works in cinema are especially dear to you?

– Yes, all the work is dear to me, because it is time spent, nerves and, what is important, this is a joint work with people, new acquaintances. Therefore, everything is very expensive, because every role, every episode shot in the film takes a life.

– In the theater “Workshop of Peter Fomenko”, where you serve, what performances can you see with your participation?

– In the theater, watch the unchanging classics staged by Pyotr Fomenko. During my service in the theater, I participated in a number of projects, but I consider the most famous works to be “War and Peace. The beginning of the novel “, as well as” Egyptian Nights “by A. S. Pushkin, the role of Vershnev, and in the play” Dowry “based on the play by Alexander Nikolayevich Ostrovsky, he played Sergei Sergeevich Paratov. There are new roles, but we’ll talk about them after the premiere.

– I read that you are an altar boy at the church of the Holy Martyr Antipas in the Kolymazhny Yard. This did not surprise me, because from your interviews you clearly read a creative, intelligent, searching person … Does serving in the temple help you in work and in life?

– This is a rather popular question, and I will answer it popularly: if something did not help a person in life, he would hardly spend such a part of his time on it.
