The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has fined the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RHF) 5,000 Swiss francs ($5,600) due to the participation of CSKA goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov in the match against Ak Bars today, September 1. This is stated in statement IIHF.
If Ivan Fedotov continues to play without a transfer, the IIHF will refer the matter to the organization’s Disciplinary Board. In this case, Fedotov, CSKA and FHR will face additional sanctions.

In the summer of 2023, after the end of his service, Fedotov announced his desire to continue playing for CSKA. On July 8, 2023, the KHL registered a new contract with CSKA. August 14 IIHF disqualified Ivan Fedotov for four months and allowed him to play for CSKA from January 1, 2024. CSKA banned international transfers for a year, until August 10, 2024.
CSKA filed an appeal against this decision. CSKA head coach Sergei Fedorov said that Fedotov will be able to play in the KHL championship against Ak Bars in Moscow on September 1 as part of the KHL Opening Cup match.
