In the 2023-2024 season, the RFU will continue the practice of introducing not only professional or amateur clubs, but also media clubs into the Russian Cup, which have recently begun to rapidly gain popularity, and some players prefer them to play in the Second or First League. For the first time, media teams appeared in the Russian Cup last season and immediately made themselves known, having gone through several stages.
Ivanovo “Tekstilshchik” started the Way of the Regions of the Cup of Russia for 2 years in a row with a match against media teams. If in 2022 the players of “2Drots” came to Ivanovo, then most recently the “city of brides” was visited by the founders of media football – Moscow “Amkal”. In both cases, the Tekstilshchik stadium was filled to capacity, and the hosts knocked the “bloggers” out of the tournament following a penalty shoot-out.
Igor Kolyvanov, head coach of FC Tekstilshchik, spoke about the participation of media teams in the Russian Cup.
“This is a plus, everything is fine. Let them play! If people love them, then let these teams play, and the fans go to the stadium, cheer for them. For me, the main thing is that young people are not busy with something bad. And so, they come to the stadium, get sick, enjoy,” Kolyvanov said.
