The head of the Lipetsk region Igor Artamonov met with the team of FC Metallurg. The governor talked with the players and coaches about the club’s development plans and its sporting prospects.
This year, FC Metallurg continues to play in the Second League. The Lipetsk team moved from the “silver” group of the league to the “gold” group. For the next playing season, they set a goal – access to the First League – “The best league in the world.”
The head of the region emphasized that the team had successfully overcome the crisis caused by the change of head coach and had completed its first task this season.
“Now we will count on further victories, which will undoubtedly delight the fans and raise the prestige of Lipetsk football and sports,” said Igor Artamonov.
Since August of this year, sports work at the FC has been led by Andrey Ovchinnikov, who spent 15 seasons at Metallurg. The technical director is Vadim Bannykh, a graduate of Lipetsk football. At the end of September, the experienced Lipetsk coach, who had previously managed the team, Sergei Mashnin, became the head of the coaching staff.
In the first stage of the current football season, the Lipetsk club played 18 matches. The Lipetsk team won 7 times. They also have 5 losses and 6 draws.
Lipetsk’s new opponents in the second stage of the Championship will be Krasnodar-2, Ufa, Rotor (Volgograd), Murom (Murom), Veles (Moscow), Chaika (Peschanokopskoye).
According to the preliminary schedule, the matches will begin on March 3 next year.
