“If you want to fight, you need to go to fights, and football is about something else”

Deputy Chairman of the Football Federation of Dagestan Vaylanmat Vaylanmatov commented for MK in Dagestan on the incident with the players of the Derbent football club, who beat the referee and received a disqualification for this.

On September 7, Astrakhan hosted a Russian championship match among amateur teams of the 3rd division in the SFD-NCFD zone between Astrakhan and Derbent. At the 87th minute of the match, referee Alexander Gordienko (Rostov-on-Don) sent off one of the Derbent players, which led to a brawl between the teams. The removed player, leaving the field, threatened the referee to deal with him after the match.

The game ended with the score 1:0 in favor of the Astrakhan team. After the final whistle, six Derbent players burst into the referee’s room and beat the chief referee of the match.

By the decision of the Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Union of Football Federations of the Southern Federal District and the North Caucasus Federal District, six Derbent football players received two years of disqualification: Emin Abdusalimov (21 years old), Kazanfar Aleev (32 years old), Imran Abdiev (24 years old), Kurbanmagomed Magomedov (20 years old), Sultan Sultanov (18 years old) and Renat Talibov (36 years old).

“The very next day after the incident, Deputy Minister of Sports of Dagestan Budun Budunov met with the director of FC Derbent Murad Talibov, and discussed the incident in hot pursuit. Chairman of the Federation Shikhabudin Ilyasovich (Mikailov) was on a working trip to Moscow, he arrived only yesterday evening, so we have not yet met separately in the Federation on this issue. But, of course, we are also going to respond.

We, of course, condemn such actions. No violence in sports, and in football in particular! We have a hot mentality, the guys overreacted. As far as I know, they apologized to the judiciary after the incident, but the apology does not cancel what happened. The punishment was severe, but at the same time fair. But the guys are young, I don’t want their whole football life to break down, ”Vailanmatov said.

The interlocutor noted that for the development of football in the republic, all those involved should grow: from players to administrative structures.

“As the director of Derbent, Murad Talibov, said, not only the players, but also the administrative staff and the coaching staff, all in general need to grow and develop. Football is not only football players. We all need to cool down a bit. If you want to fight, you need to go to fights, and football is about something else.

We are supporters of strict discipline, but, unfortunately, such incidents sometimes happen. Of course, we regret what happened and will work to ensure that there are as few such moments as possible,” Vaylanmatov added.
