It is necessary to increase the production of clothing and protective equipment for the needs of the army. This was stated by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting of the coordinating council to meet the needs of the troops with the participation of President Vladimir Putin. According to him, for this it is necessary to connect all the capacities of the light industry, including small enterprises. The necessary funds for the purchase of uniforms have already been allocated. Why did the prime minister draw the attention of the head of state to this issue? Will the reservists be provided with everything they need when the real cold comes? These and other questions were answered by TASS military observer, retired colonel Viktor Litovkin.

– The prime minister announced the need to launch a full-scale production of equipment and uniforms to provide for all those mobilized. Does this mean that the consumer excitement that arose against the backdrop of partial mobilization left the reservists without the necessary uniforms?

– Whether everything is fine with our clothing property, you can understand by watching the reports from the places of training of reservists. They are all dressed in different uniforms. For example, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu checked the conditions of accommodation, food and medical care for fighters in Patriot Park. So there all the reservists were in the Ratnik outfit. In the Far East, in Transbaikalia, in the Volga region, people do not have the same form. Of course, some may be given everything they need already in the military unit. But I do not think that such equipment is in abundance in the troops.

– According to the prime minister, it is necessary to use all the capacities of the light industry, including small enterprises in the regions, as well as to organize uninterrupted supplies of materials and fabrics. Is there an urgent need for this?

– Light industry needs to tune in to produce more. Winter is coming soon. Our army desperately needs warm uniforms, underwear, and socks. It was not enough that, in addition to wounds on the battlefield, people were ill with pneumonia, influenza and other colds.

What is a “property”?

– These are overalls, warm underwear, warm socks. These are different berets: warm, casual. These are body armor, unloading bras, knee pads, elbow pads, helmets, neck and back protection. This is a backpack, rubber boots, sleeping bags, rubber mats that are used in the trenches. The clothing property also includes flashlights, a dry bed, a thermos, a raincoat, a sapper shovel.

– All of the above is produced in Russia?

– Yes. No import substitution is needed for these categories of goods. Everything is made by us. Just not sure where it all went. Previously, big bosses reported that 1.5 million of the necessary uniforms were prepared in warehouses.
