ICR opened a case of fakes against the former head of Evangelical Christians-Baptists

Yury Sipko, former vice-president of the Baptist World Alliance, has been charged with disseminating false information about the RF Armed Forces (clause “d”, part 2, article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to investigators, in March 2022, he published a video with “deliberately false information about the actions of the Russian armed forces against the civilian population of Ukraine.”
Mr. Sipko and his associates were searched in the Moscow region and Kaluga, reported in the TFR. The number of his associates is not named. Whether someone was detained is not specified.
Sipko, 61, is a religious figure and pastor. In 1993 he was elected deputy chairman of the Russian Union of Evangelical Christian Baptists. On March 20, 2002, Sipko became its chairman, he served two terms in office, until March 2010. From 2005-2010, he served as Vice President of the Baptist World Alliance.
