Russian grandmaster Yang Nepomniachtchi and China’s Ding Liren tied in the 14th game of the World Chess Championship match. The score after 14 games is equal – 7:7. The fate of the chess crown will be decided in a tie-break.
The tie-break, which will determine the winner of the match, will start tomorrow at 12:00 Moscow time. First, there will be four games with a time control of 25+10. In the event of a draw, two games will follow with a control of 5+3. If they end with an equal score, they will be held again.
If the winner cannot be determined, the games will start with a 3+2 control until the first victory.
Jan Nepomniachtchi is 32 years old. He won the title of Russian champion twice (in 2010 and 2020) and won the World Team Championship twice (2013, 2019). In 2010 he became the European champion. In 2021, in the fight for the world title, Ian Nepomniachtchi lost to Magnus Carlsen with a score of 3.5:7.5.
Ding Liren is 30 years old. He won the 2019 Grand Chess Tour and won the Chinese Championship three times (2009, 2011, 2012).
