“I wish Siri would wise up” – Kommersant FM

Admiration and shock – this is how I feel about the current capabilities of artificial intelligence. For example, a couple of recently published videos authored by the generative neural network Arcads AI are so good that they can easily scare you with their naturalness. The facial expressions of the virtual girl in the frame, her gestures, lip sync, background, music – this is a 100% flawless creation of the machine. Character selection and voice acting in 32 languages ​​are available now to anyone with a subscription starting from €100.

And this is just one of the many signs of the coming era of artificial intelligence. This summer, its chronology will be celebrated by Apple; the Cupertino team has announced the date of the annual WWDC developer conference. For the event, which will open on June 10, 2024, this time they chose the slogan “It’s going to be Absolutely Incredible!” The translation into Russian is nothing remarkable, even a little vulgar: “It will be simply incredible!” But the whole idea is to write an original phrase, the first letters in the last pair of words (Absolutely Incredible) are capitalized, this simple “Easter egg” adds up to the abbreviation AI.

The upcoming presentation of a new version of the iOS mobile platform promises the introduction of artificial intelligence. I will assume that the naming of the future operating system also depends on the scale and depth of technology integration. According to the numbering, it should be iOS 18, but it is likely that this name will take on other expressions of meaning than a number. After all, we jumped from the ninth version of the iPhone to the X for the anniversary of the smartphone.

I believe that one can only fantasize about the usefulness of AI tools based on the reliability of known variants of generative neural networks. And this, rather, is working with text, sound and image, and in the latter category we are talking more about photos than video.

Samsung is already taking this path, introducing a set of artificial intelligence tools Galaxy AI in the new flagships of the S24 line. This includes correcting errors in text, smart search, shooting tips, creating your own unique wallpaper, photo editing, summary of voice recordings, language translation during a call. Apple will have to surprise with something more, I would like Siri to become smarter and approach the simplicity and quality of contact with Russian users at least to the level of “Alice”, “Marusya” or “Salyut”. It’s nice and not scary.
