Sergei Poletykin, head of the EMERCOM’s headquarters near Moscow, said the region is also at risk of forest fires. He announced this at a meeting with the governor of the Moscow region Andrei Vorobyov, TASS reports. Mr. Poltetykin clarified that grass fires are possible throughout the region, and the fire from them can also spread to forests. Peat fires are possible in five districts.
The smell of burning appeared in Moscow since August 18, in some places there was a slight smog. Smoke smell complaints continued apply today, 22 August. Rospotrebnadzor recommended citizens to wear masks. In the Moscow region since August 19 restricted visiting forests. Rosleskhoz said that the smoke came from a forest fire in the Ryazan region.
