“Gazprom“began deliveries of gas to Hungary in excess of the established contracts through the Turkish Stream, the daily additional volume until the end of August is 2.6 million cubic meters. This was announced by the State Secretary of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations Tamas Menzer.
“The Hungarian government has previously decided to purchase approximately 700 million cubic meters of natural gas in addition to the already contracted volumes. Knowing today’s European market conditions, it is clear that acquiring such a large quantity is not possible without Russian sources,” said Mentzer (quoted from “RIA News”).
Previously, the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations, Peter Szijjarto, recently held talks in Moscow, followed by several commercial talks, Menzer said. This, according to the diplomat, led to the agreement, as a result of which, on August 12, Gazprom began deliveries in excess of the volumes already contracted.
Mentzer also added that negotiations are already underway on a September delivery schedule.
On August 4, Ukrtransnafta stopped the pumping of Russian oil through one of the branches of the pipeline to Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The reason was the inability to pay for oil pumping services through Ukrainian territory after the introduction of the seventh package of European sanctions. sent through Gazprombank the payment was returned to the Transneft account.
On August 10, it became known about the resumption of the transit of Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia. This happened after local operators, the Hungarian oil and gas company MOL and the Slovak plant Slovnaft, agreed with the Ukrainian side and independently paid for the transit of oil.
