Hungary and Serbia will sign an agreement in June on the construction of a new pipeline through which Russian oil will be delivered to Serbian consumers via Hungary. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary Peter Szijjarto following the results of negotiations with the Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia Dubravka Negre in Budapest.

“Negotiations between MOL and Transnafta on this project are ongoing. An agreement on this can be signed at the Serbian-Hungarian summit scheduled for June,” he said (cit. according to TASS).

It is specified that the oil pipeline will be built between the Hungarian city of Aldio and the Serbian Novi Sad, its length will be 128 km. Szijjarto had previously said that the cost of construction would be around 100 million euros.

Russian oil is exported to Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline. On December 5 last year, the price ceiling for Russian oil at $60/bbl, approved by the EU countries, came into force. But deliveries via Druzhba were not subject to EU sanctions: exceptions were made for Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
