Hungarian Foreign Minister opposed the convening of the Ukraine-NATO Commission

The Hungarian authorities do not want to convene a Ukraine-NATO commission, says the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Peter Szijjártó. According to him, Budapest will adhere to this position until the rights of ethnic Hungarians in Transcarpathia are restored.
On his social media page, Szijjártó noted that Hungary had not raised the issue since the conflict in Ukraine began. She is not going to do it anytime soon.
At the same time, Szijjarto emphasized that one should hope for an early onset of peace in Ukraine. Then this issue can be discussed again.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who took part in an international conference held in Panama, spoke about the situation in Ukraine. He told interlocutors that Europe faces several challenges – the fighting in Ukraine and the accompanying economic crisis, as well as migration. “And the main thing is that Russia should not pose a threat to the security of Europe, and for this we need a sovereign Ukraine,” he said.
As for Szijjártó, he previously stated that Kyiv is preventing a number of Hungarian companies from operating on the Ukrainian market. He recalled that Ukraine is already receiving some assistance from Hungary. Therefore, it is not worth spoiling relations with the country that provides economic and humanitarian support to Ukraine.
