Huawei held a presentation of a new family of smartphones Mate 50, the flagship device of which was the Mate 50 Pro with support for satellite communications.
The novelty received a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip from Qualcomm with 8 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of internal memory. The smartphone has a 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2616 x 1212 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Support for 5G networks is implemented using a proprietary case, but the Mate 50 Pro became the world’s first mass-market smartphone with satellite communications – it only works in China via the Beidou network and allows you to exchange text messages and make voice calls.
The device received a 13-megapixel front camera and a main unit consisting of a 50-megapixel lens with optical stabilization and variable aperture, a 64-megapixel telephoto lens with optical stabilization, 3.5x optical zoom and 200x digital, as well as a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The smartphone is equipped with a 4700 mAh battery with support for 66 W fast wired charging and reverse charging function. Mate 50 Pro received IP68 dust and moisture protection, which, due to the special Kunlun protective glass, allows the smartphone to withstand being at a depth of up to six meters without damage.
The sale of Huawei Mate 50 Pro, running on the proprietary operating system HarmonyOS 3, will be released in September. The possibility of starting sales outside of China is not reported.
