The main goal of the “Autumn School” is to popularize the exact sciences and increase the number of students entering technical universities. The first event took place recently, where more than 60 teachers from the Irkutsk region took part. Leading teachers from the physics and mechanics-mathematics faculties of Moscow State University spoke to the teachers. The founder of En+ and RUSAL, Oleg Deripaska, who himself graduated with honors from the physics department of Moscow State University, many years ago began to improve education in the Siberian regions. He has said more than once that today’s graduates of the faculties of physics and mathematics form the backbone of the engineering professions in our country.

“Yesterday we saw the beautiful city of Irkutsk, and also went to Lake Baikal and the Taltsy Museum. We were told that two centuries ago the approach to the study of nature was that scientists of that time turned to school teachers with a request to conduct certain experiments. We believe that the autumn school is dedicated to the same access of representatives of science to teachers who prepare personnel for us,” shared the teacher of the “Autumn School” Ekaterina Lukasheva, associate professor of the department of general physics at Moscow State University.





During the lectures, school teachers were told about the “junction” of sciences. Scientists offered the participants of the “Autumn School” effective ways to increase schoolchildren’s interest in physics and mathematics. Also during the lectures, teachers learned about the largest project in particle physics – a neutrino telescope at the bottom of Lake Baikal.

“This school is interesting because of the opportunity to communicate with people in science. So that some complex fundamental things are conveyed to me, and then I can convey it to the children,” project participant, mathematics teacher at Irkutsk School No. 64 Anna Ermolova shared her impressions.

The basis of engineering professions in Russia

Associate Professor of the Department of General Nuclear Physics at Moscow State University Evgeny Shirokov is one of the teachers of the “Autumn School”. He is convinced that such events play an important role in the development of technical education in Russia. The scientist thanked Oleg Deripaska for supporting science in the region. “I can say that this is a definite contribution to the development of fundamental science in our country. This is the basis on which applied science is then based,” emphasized Evgeniy Shirokov.

The school will also help teachers develop their creative personality. Today, more than ever, it is important to be able to adapt to a changing environment and select the right keys in the interaction between teacher and student when choosing a future profession.





The Minister of Education of the Irkutsk Region, Maxim Parfenov, called the new project an important step in the development of education in Russia. “We are working together to solve the most important problem: improving the quality of education, regardless of where the school is located in the Irkutsk region. I hope that such events will be continued,” the minister concluded.

Today, En+ and RUSAL have built a system of training personnel for the energy and metallurgical industries since school days. “Multilabs” with ultra-modern equipment for studying programming and robotics have opened for children in a number of regions, and there is also an “Energy School” project for a deep immersion in the topic of energy. In addition, as part of mastering their future profession, children have access to visits to En+ enterprises and practice.
