Do you know what “cornus”, “pistachio”, “mica”, “anchor” are? Primary school students of school No. 1368 got acquainted with these concepts in preparation for participation in the championship of professional skills “Masteryata” in the competence of “floristry”. Second-grade students Kira Leiko and Maria Petrova created a flower arrangement from anthurium, carnations, chrysanthemums, moss and became the best in the Grace and Craftsmanship nomination.
As the girls’ class teacher Natalia Dobrovolskaya said, the desire of schoolgirls to prove themselves in this particular competence in the championship required a year of serious work from them. The girls studied at home with their parents, and attended a three-month online course in floristry at school.
– Schoolgirls learned how to properly process an oasis (floristic sponge), what is a kokedama (earth globe covered with moss), why test tubes and cornus (bush branches), mica and anchor (floristic tape) are needed in the composition, got acquainted with the rules of respect for plants,” explained Natalia Dobrovolskaya.
In the finals of the florist competition, the girls were given a “secret box”, and in their flower arrangement they used plants such as potted anthurium, carnation, alstroemeria, bullerum, chrysanthemums, pistachio, moss, salal, hypericum and anigozanthos. Kira Leiko and Maria Petrova received high scores for coherence and precise fulfillment of the requirements of the task and were noted in the Grace and Mastery nomination.
