Russian regions have begun to pass laws abolishing the transport tax for mobilized citizens. Such a decision has already been made in Tatarstan, Kemerovo, Ulyanovsk and Rostov regions. Some subjects, for example, the Saratov and Omsk regions, limited themselves to the partial abolition of the tax for cars and motorcycles of a certain capacity. Moscow, the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg and the Krasnodar Territory have not yet announced such legislative initiatives.

Transport tax rates and benefits, we recall, are set by regional laws, and the fees go to local budgets. The Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg has not yet made such decisions. The LDPR faction in the regional parliament addressed the governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, with a proposal to abolish the transport tax. There is no answer yet, says the head of the faction, Pavel Itkin, although the city’s budget for the next year is already being discussed. “With a trillion-dollar budget, a small amount will fall out,” he told Kommersant. A month ago, the Right-wing Russians in the State Council of Chuvashia sent proposals to the regional parliament to exempt those mobilized from the transport tax, the idea was rejected for an unknown reason. The press service of the Samara Provincial Duma told Kommersant that they have not yet had any initiatives to exempt them from the transport tax. The authorities of the Krasnodar Territory, Moscow and the Moscow Region also did not announce such amendments.
