The legendary grandmaster told why he prefers solitude
The legendary chess player Anatoly Karpov appeared at the secular premiere of the film and told Moskovsky Komsomolets how he is spending his time now. The athlete is 71 years old, but, as it turned out, he does not lie on the couch all day watching TV shows. Anatoly Evgenievich has a lot of work, including at home.
“Duma work takes a lot of time. And then, I head a lot of public organizations – they also take a lot of time. Plus chess,” Karpov said.
According to him, the grandmaster has very little free time, and even if he does, he prefers to spend it at home, away from the hype.
“I am at home alone, I write articles, books. These are old habits: when I was resting, I did not like to walk with someone. This does not mean that I refused, but even now, if I am really tired and want to rest, I sit at home, so that no one pulls, does not ask questions, does not ask for an autograph or be photographed.
I don’t like to make by hand. This, rather, applies more to the world champion Petrosyan,” Anatoly Evgenievich concluded.
