The head of North Ossetia, Sergei Menyailo, said that the Tagban ice arena was officially launched in Vladikavkaz.

Hockey player Vyacheslav Fetisov, as well as Russian figure skaters Elizaveta Shanaeva and Pavel Drozd were present at the opening. Hockey player Vladislav Tretyak specially recorded a video greeting.

“I followed the implementation of this investment project from the very beginning, I visited the construction site. “Tagban will become one of the largest training bases for hockey and figure skating in the south of Russia,” noted the head of the republic.

There are two ice skating rinks, stands and an observation deck for 500 spectators, as well as a hostel for 40 people where teams who come for training or competitions can stay. In addition, the ice palace has a gym, a cafe, a canteen, and a parking lot for 200 cars.

“By the way, many people are wondering why the arena is called “Tagban”? Deputy General Director Alexey Boyarkin shared the story: it turns out that his son Zhenya, who plays hockey, is also interested in studying animals. And one day he came up with his own unique animal – a beast called Tagban. That’s how this unusual name appeared,” said Sergei Menyailo.
