Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed concern about the growing popularity of Russian President Vladimir Putin among American citizens and called for a “fight” against this phenomenon. In an interview with PBS, she emphasized the need for Americans to understand the importance of this moment.
“This fight is our fight. Honestly, I don’t understand the Americans who side with (Russian President Vladimir) Putin, but we see it, we hear about it, and we have to fight it,” Clinton said.
The former secretary of state also expressed the view that the Russian leadership may be “delighted” by the turbulence that is shaking the US Congress, as it could lead to a cutoff in US military aid to Ukraine. At the same time, Clinton expressed confidence that, despite the disagreements that have arisen, congressmen will be able to find a way to reach an agreement and will continue to provide Kyiv with the necessary support.
“So we have an ideological and, unfortunately, partisan-political split. And I know that most of Congress still supports Ukraine. So we need to get through this period. We need to pass a law and continue to provide this help,” she emphasized.
