In September 2023, the Federal Center for the Applied Development of Artificial Intelligence (founded by the Ministry of Industry and Trade) will launch an educational program for high school students Journey into Artificial Intelligence at the Vidnovsky Art and Technical Lyceum. The program starts in the specialized technological tenth grade. Schoolchildren will be told in which areas artificial intelligence is used, and they will explain the basics of how machine learning technologies, unmanned vehicles and voice assistants work. The program also has a section on algorithms that allow you to create works of art or computer games, the principles of data analytics and basic programming methods in Python. At the same time, the program of the professional minimum in the field of AI is being launched.

“In the era of global digitalization, new technologies are increasingly penetrating into everyday life, and it is important to create conditions at the stage of schooling in which children can immerse themselves in the study of the principles of the functioning of artificial intelligence and the possibility of its application,” says the director of the center Alexander Sergeyev. over the creation of “skills of the future”, the training of specialists in new, in-demand professions. Therefore, such an educational program should be gradually introduced in all schools in the country.” Lyceum director Elena Kamyanova believes that an educational program in the field of artificial intelligence would be appropriate not only in the senior, but also in the seventh or eighth grades. In the meantime, the project is designed for students who are already at the stage of professional self-determination. “Professions are increasingly being transformed by the introduction of AI; future specialists should understand what professions are emerging now, and which ones are likely to be replaced by robots, autopilots or other technological solutions,” the Center for Applied AI Development notes. “Currently existing career guidance programs often do not take into account the specifics of the professions of the future. School teachers are not always able to give qualified information about such professions and guide schoolchildren in the development of the necessary skills.”

Part of the first phase of the project will be working with lyceum teachers and preparing a set of teaching materials for students. The developers plan to collect feedback from the participants of the first stream and expect to expand the program to include other educational institutions.
