Video service YouTube has added the ability for Premium subscribers to watch 1080p videos with an increased bitrate. About it informs The Verge with a link to a service representative.
An enhanced quality video option also appears for ordinary YouTube users, however, when trying to view it in this quality, the platform offers to purchase a Premium subscription. Formerly YouTube raised the price of a Premium subscription – the monthly fee will increase by $2, to $13.99, and the annual fee will increase by $20, to $139.99.
Standard 1080p definition remains available to all users. Video with increased bitrate, according to a company representative, is clearer, which is clearly visible in videos with dynamic scenes, a lot of details and natural landscapes.
The enhanced feature has arrived on the web, on game consoles, on the Google Chromecast, and on iOS—not all Android users can take advantage of it yet. YouTube tested new feature from April 2023. Earlier YouTube started test artificial intelligence video annotation function.
