Hezbollah says it wasn’t involved in rocket attacks on Israel

The Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah has nothing to do with the rocket attacks on Israel that were carried out on April 6 from Lebanese territory. This was reported by the Al-Arabiya TV channel, citing a source close to the party.

“We have nothing to do with launching rockets [по Израилю]”, – said the interlocutor (quote according to TASS).

Earlier today, dozens of rockets were fired at Israel from Lebanese territory, Ynet reported, citing a statement by the Israeli army. Al-Arabiya writes that Israeli air defense systems intercepted several missiles. The Israeli army then launched strikes against targets in southern Lebanon.

As a result, an air raid alert was issued in several cities in the Western Galilee. By data Ynet, three people were injured.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. TV channel notesthat the attacks on Israel came after Hezbollah’s statement of solidarity with Palestine and support for “any retaliatory measures to protect the faithful and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

Reuters, citing three sources claimsthat Palestinian groups are behind the shelling of Israel. The interlocutors also stated that they were not involved in the Hezbollah attack. The agency did not provide other details.

Immediately after the shelling, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened urgent meeting with the heads of law enforcement agencies. Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen on Twitter called on the international community to condemn the attack on the country.

The situation in northern Israel escalated amid clashes on the Temple Mount during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, as well as Jewish and Christian holidays. For several days there have been clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces.
