The press service of the Khakassky reserve reported that this week Agafya Lykova, a representative of the Lykov Old Believer family, who lives in the reserve, was visited during an inspection flight by employees of environmental protection and ground services of the Baikonur cosmodrome to warn about the upcoming launch of a spacecraft and suggest that she temporarily evacuate.
“The trajectory of the fall of rocket stages launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome passes through the mountain-taiga section of the Lykov Zaimka. And each time, before and after the launch, overflights of the area are carried out. The main purpose of this flight was to inform Agafya Lykova, who lives there permanently, about the upcoming launch of the rocket.” , the press service said.
It also follows from the report that during the flight, employees of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Center for the Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure” also found a part of the launch vehicle used during previous launches. Now the dangerous find is being dismantled and prepared for removal.
The Lykov family became widely known in the last years of the USSR thanks to the reports of the KP journalist Vasily Peskov, who managed, among other things, to provide assistance to compatriots who had lived in the taiga since 1937.
