Health is the most important resource: how shop medicine is being revived at enterprises

The well-being of employees of the petrochemical complex in Tobolsk is taken under strict control

10 km from the ancient city of Tobolsk there is one of the largest petrochemical complexes in Russia – ZapSibNeftekhim. The Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation, using the example of this enterprise, told reporters about successfully operating projects and programs aimed at caring for the health of employees.

“We, together with the FSS, have built a system for monitoring the health of our citizens. The key thing is diagnosing and monitoring their health status at various stages and identifying any problems at an early stage. Starting from the fact that we delivered an automated system of 28 ESMOs to the access points for workplaces. A person, coming to work, on a daily basis makes a very simple diagnosis – measuring pressure, measuring temperature, – says the general director of the enterprise Maxim Rogov.

In addition, the practice of shop doctors is recreated here. It is to them that in case of unimportant indications on the ESMO, employees are sent. The workshop doctor already has a history of all human diseases, so he can quickly respond and send for an appointment with specialists of the required profile.

Another completed project is the Center for Psychological Support. To make it easier to cope with the work schedule, 4 special relaxation rooms have been created on the industrial site. The salt microclimate room is also open.

At the expense of repayable funds from the FSS, employees from among pensioners, pre-pensioners and employees working in hazardous working conditions are annually sent for sanatorium treatment. Employees and family members also have access to recreational activities in the corporate center located in the city of Anapa. In 2020–2022, 268 people underwent spa treatment.

Thanks to the integrated work of the enterprise and the Social Insurance Fund, in 2022 it was possible to reduce the number of days of temporary disability per employee to 3.7, and excluding sick leaves opened for COVID-19, this figure is 2.9 days.

– The FSS is interested in reducing occupational diseases and accidents. We have measures to prevent occupational diseases, including compensation for the employer’s expenses for periodic medical examinations. We compensate for the cost of PPE, if they are included in the list approved by the decree of the Ministry of Labor, the cost of health resort treatment. In addition, we have recently been compensating for modernization activities to improve people’s working conditions. And I would like to note that we see that companies are getting very good indicators in terms of reducing injuries and general morbidity, – said Tatyana Lototskaya, First Deputy Chairman of the FSS of the Russian Federation.

She added that the issues of ensuring labor safety, preserving the life and health of workers, reducing the number of accidents and occupational diseases at work are key in the work of the Fund. The Social Insurance Fund is interested in ensuring that labor protection in the country is at the proper level.

Recall that in 2021, the Social Insurance Fund implemented a pilot project to organize interagency cooperation in order to prevent occupational diseases and create a system for monitoring the health of workers. Its goal is to reduce occupational morbidity through preventive treatment of workers with identified early signs of exposure to a harmful production factor and the creation of a health monitoring system.
