Heads of regional publications “MK” spoke about problems and victories

The newspaper continued to be published in Crimea even during the energy blockade

The editorial office of Moskovsky Komsomolets hosts an annual seminar, which is attended by the heads of the regional representative offices of the publication. Our publication is represented in 65 regions of Russia and 15 countries. At the seminar they talked about the results of the outgoing year, about achievements, prospects and problems, which each media outlet has many of. MK spoke with colleagues from the regions.

Elena Bakanova, editor-in-chief of MK-Caucasushas been heading the publication for 15 years, and this says a lot about the stability and influence of the publication in the region.

“They listen to us, they read us, and this makes me happy,” Elena shared. The editors often receive responses and letters from readers, requests that journalists understand the problem and provide assistance. The work of “MK” in the region is also noted by the government of the Stavropol Territory.

Elena believes that at the present time it is especially important to disseminate only reliable and complete information: “We try to be very correct in what we write and what we talk about.”

Sergey Filichkin, head of the Guberniya publishing house in the Chelyabinsk region said that one of the main problems faced by the current press is the superficiality of the presentation of information. There are very few materials devoted to deep analysis of what really affects people’s lives.

“There is very little deep journalism, smart analysts and observers,” says Sergei. “MK has such people.”

Sergey noted that the consumer votes with rubles. And the main indicator of relevance and usefulness for a newspaper and website is sales and audience. And everything is fine with sales of Moskovsky Komsomolets in Chelyabinsk.

– MK” is known in the region, it is respected, it is trusted. “MK” is a very interesting and relevant source of information for many. Many generations have already grown up watching Moskovsky Komsomolets. Some are a fan of the newspaper, some love the website, some love the Telegram channel, and some love social networks. Everyone finds a platform that suits them. But all these platforms have one thing in common – quality, efficiency, truthfulness,” says Sergei.

Editor-in-Chief of MK in Crimea Michael Lvovsky reminded us of the history of MK in the region. The first attempt to create an editorial office was in the 90s, but then the newspaper did not exist for a long time. After 25 years, MK returned and took a prominent position.

“The newspaper and the website have already become part of Crimea,” Michael noted. – The Crimean editorial office is one of the unique ones, considering the problems it has faced in the past. So, even during the energy blockade, our colleagues continued to publish issues, and each subscriber received a newspaper. Crimean journalists solved the problem of the lack of electricity and the shutdown of printing houses together with the editorial office of MK on Kuban. We made joint issues, colleagues from Krasnodar delivered part of their circulation to Crimea by bus, using a ferry crossing, because the Crimean Bridge did not yet exist.

Another problem the editors faced was entering a new market.

“KP and AiF have always had an editorial office in Crimea, and they inherited the subscription circulation from the Ukrainian editorial offices. And we started from scratch, we had nothing to rely on except the name “Moskovsky Komsomolets,” shared the editor-in-chief. However, despite all the difficulties, the editorial office of MK has been working in Crimea for ten years, and in just a couple of weeks it will celebrate its anniversary – the 500th issue of the newspaper will be published.

According to Mike, “the newspaper even saves lives. Just a couple of days ago I talked with my 86-year-old grandmother, and she told me that while she was in the hospital, she waited for the MK newspaper every day. And that gave her hope. Now my grandmother has returned home and asked me to sign her and her friend to MK. Naturally, I signed.”
