Chairman of the government of Dagestan Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov instructed to form an operational headquarters to study the situation after the mass death of the Caspian seal. During the study, experts will determine the cause of the incident and take all the necessary tests.

Since December 3, 2.5 thousand dead seals have been found along the Caspian coast in the territory of the republic. The operational headquarters was entrusted to be headed by the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Republic, Ibragim Ibragimov. The headquarters will include representatives of Rosprirodnadzor, Rosrybolovstvo, the Caspian Institute of Biological Resources, as well as heads of municipalities and scientists.

“Specialists-microbiologists arrived in the republic to conduct research, who will determine the cause of death, conduct the necessary laboratory studies of the pathological material of dead animals, bacterial analysis, and virological studies,”— informed Mr. Abdulmuslimov at a special meeting convened on this occasion.

The heads of municipalities, in the coastal zones of which the dead animals were found, were instructed to proceed with their safe removal and disposal.
