Military preparations are underway in Moldova, as evidenced by the pumping up of its weapons and exercises with NATO, Vitaly Ignatiev, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Transnistrian Moldavian Republic (PMR), said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
He called the number of joint exercises between Moldova and NATO unprecedented, also pointing to constant training with reservists and the continuous rapid growth of Moldova’s military budget.
“The active militarization of one of the parties to the unresolved conflict is of concern not only to the residents of Transnistria, but also to Moldova itself,” he said. According to him, through such steps the West provokes instability and mistrust.
Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu, in an interview with Politico, expressed the opinion that the country should abandon neutrality in order to join a major military alliance.
