Head of Rosaviatsia: Western sanctions are aimed at destroying aviation in Russia

The Western sanctions, which include a ban on the supply of aircraft and components to Russia, as well as closing the European market for Russian airlines, are aimed at destroying the aviation industry in Russia. About it declared head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Alexander Neradko in an interview RBC.

The publication notes that last spring, the head of the Directorate General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission, Henrik Hololei, made a similar statement, commenting on the restrictions imposed in response to the start of a special operation in Ukraine.

“Yes, there was such a frank statement by a high-ranking European official, which, apparently, he had been hatching for a long time. It didn’t work out,” Neradko said. The head of the Federal Air Transport Agency stressed that this was not possible due to timely and correct decisions in response to the restrictions imposed on those “who are responsible for aviation in Russia.”

Russia, as Neradko said, is still interacting with the aviation authorities of friendly countries, with international organizations that work in the field of civil aviation, as well as “informal contacts” with partners from states that have imposed sanctions.

Neradko called “overcoming the consequences of sanctions” his key task as head of the Federal Air Transport Agency. In his opinion, the closest partners of Russian aviation are those countries and companies that have not stopped flights to Russia. According to him, 53 airlines from 26 countries have not stopped flights. He noted that their number is growing. “For example, Jazeera Airways will start direct flights from Kuwait to Domodedovo on February 2,” Neradko added.
