The head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, said that tourists on the peninsula will be able to stay for free in hotels for another day. The ferry across the Kerch Strait, he said, will also operate free of charge. It will take a day to resolve the issue of the possibility of buses and trucks moving along the Crimean bridge, Mr. Aksenov said. The decision will be made after the examination.
“An examination is being carried out on whether the structure can withstand the weight of a bus or a truck. If tomorrow there is a conclusion that bus transport can move, then, accordingly, the situation will be simplified for us, ”he said at a press conference (quoted by TASS).
According to the head of the Crimea, while the buses will be transported through the Kerch Strait on the ferry. “Now they will bypass all the buses, write out all the routes without exception, look at the logistics – where people are going. If it is, for example, Kerch, Anapa or the nearby settlements of the Krasnodar Territory, we will simply put them in cars, we will negotiate manually, and people will pick them up accordingly,” he added.
The sequence of sending trucks will be determined manually by Rosavtodor. “Within 24 hours, we are waiting for confirmation on cargo, including, if yes, then relocate inspection complexes from the border of the Kherson region, there are three such complexes there, which can reduce the time of vehicle inspection to 5 minutes,” said Mr. Aksenov.
Early in the morning of October 8, a truck exploded on the Crimean bridge. As a result, two car spans were damaged, seven tanks of a train that followed next to the truck caught fire. President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on strengthening the protection of the transport crossing through the Kerch Strait, the electric grid energy bridge and the main gas pipeline. The powers to protect are vested in the FSB.
