HC Sochi breaks losing streak

HC “Sochi” after 21 defeats interrupted the losing streak. Leopards defeated Metallurg Magnitogorsk. The match took place on the ice of the Bolshoi Sports Palace on January 14.
The first puck went into the gates of Magnitogorsk in the 18th minute. Yegor Babenko became the author of the goal. Metallurg was able to answer only in 31 minutes, already in the second period. However, the Sochi team quickly returned the advantage to their side with a goal under the authorship of Artyom Nikolaev. Another attempt by Magnitogorsk to even the score was in vain thanks to Sergei Popov, who threw the puck into the opponent’s goal in the third period. The match ended with the score 3:2.
“I would like to say kind words to our fans, who, even with such a series of defeats, are here in the stands. We hear them, they scream, they get sick. We are indebted to them for this losing streak. Today’s victory is a gift to all our fans, all the youth, all our club,” said Sergey Svetlov, Sochi coach, for whom this match was the 400th in his career.
The game against Metallurg also ended the home series. The next match of the Sochi players will take place in the Moscow region on January 18. “Leopards” will meet with the players of “Vityaz”.
Recall that the losing streak of Sochi residents began after victory over Salavat Yulaev in the middle of November.
