In Petrozavodsk, on November 18 and 19, the Karelia Cup in rhythmic gymnastics was held in the Desyatochka shopping center on Klyuchevaya, as well as regional competitions in memory of the founder of rhythmic gymnastics in our republic, honored Karelian coach Natalya Lipnina.
Gymnasts aged 8 to 15 years and older performed in groups and individually.
Let us recall that Natalya Yakovlevna Lipnina was born in Petrozavodsk on November 2, 1928. On her initiative, the first rhythmic gymnastics club was opened in the Palace of Pioneers in 1955. In 1961, the section was transferred to Children’s Sports School No. 1 and a rhythmic gymnastics department was opened. And in the same year, the first official Championship of the Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was held under the program of masters of sports.
The main result of Natalya Lipnina’s 35-year coaching, teaching and organizational activity was the creation of a modern rhythmic gymnastics school in Karelia, which has become widely known in the country.
The most striking moments of the performances were captured by MK in Karelia photographer Irina Yakovleva. Look what beautiful and graceful athletes are in the frame.
