Gymnast Maria Paseka announced her departure from Russia

Russian gymnast, 4-time Olympic medalist Maria Paseka said she was leaving Russia for “unloading and self-development.” She admitted that she could return to her homeland.

“My departure from the country will give me new thoughts, a new attitude to everything, a new me. This is my unloading, where I can develop myself, see something new, even feel something new in myself. And then we’ll see how everything goes when I return to my homeland, ”Maria Paseka wrote on her Instagram (the social network belongs to the Meta company, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

In the spring, the 27-year-old gymnast announced that she plans to start her coaching career in China, where she will train athletes for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Maria Paseka is not the first athlete to leave Russia in recent weeks. On September 27, Secretary General of the Russian Olympic Committee and five-time Olympic champion Anastasia Davydova left the country. She is statedthat has no plans to return.
