UN Secretary General António Guterres declaredthat the world should not be split in two.
“I believe that it is very important to prevent the split of the world into two parts. Creating opportunities for serious negotiations is of great importance,” the secretary general said in an interview with the Japanese agency Kyodo.
He also added that he sees no prospects for “immediate peace” in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
May 19 in Hiroshima (Japan) opened three-day summit of the heads of the G7 countries. The summit focused on the issue of further support for Ukraine, as well as issues of economic security and climate protection.
May 17, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova statedthat the G7 has “completely lost its credibility”. “This once again confirmed the creation of the G20, because the G7 failed to respond to the challenge of the US-created crisis of 2008,” the spokeswoman said.
According to Zakharova, now the G7 members are engaged in “drawing” dividing lines in international relations, trying to impose their will on others and coordinating measures of pressure on “undesirable countries.”
