Denis Kireev, a member of the Ukrainian delegation at the talks with the Russian Federation, was killed in March last year in the car of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). This was announced by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, in an interview with Radio Liberty (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian media).

“This fact is recorded in the materials of the investigation. Everything else – the investigation is conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation. I have no right to comment on this information,” Budanov specified.

Further, he continued: “Let’s evaluate only the facts. Here they are: a man who was traveling at the invitation of the SBU to the SBU building, not reaching two hundred meters from the building, is intercepted, taken a little further, and the corpse is thrown out into the street. That’s it.”

Budanov pointed out that Kireev was an intelligence officer and was not a spy. According to him, he personally knows him since 2009. He added that he “did not expect such actions by the SBU against his staff member.”

Denis Kireev is a Ukrainian banking sector expert and intelligence officer.

Worked with a number of international organizations (such as Citibank, Credit Lyonnais, ING, Rabobank), specialized in private equity management. He was the first deputy chairman of the board of JSC Oschadbank in 2010-2014. Unofficial member of the first delegation for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.

Kireev was born on January 1, 1977 in Kyiv. First he graduated from the Technical Lyceum of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, then the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Management and Marketing. Subsequently, he continued to study at the Institute for Advanced Studies and Retraining of Personnel of the MPPU with a degree in Finance, and then graduated from the UNICO Banking Institute in Amsterdam.
