Gunsmiths offered to teach shooting from childhood

An incorrect stereotype has formed in Russian society regarding civilian weapons. It is perceived as a threat. Some even propose to ban it. And this is wrong. This idea was voiced at the “round” table within the framework of the “Army” forum, which was dedicated to the state of the national market for small arms. The round table was attended by State Duma deputies, representatives of law enforcement agencies and professional shooting associations.

As you know, a number of high-profile shooting incidents in schools, colleges and institutes have led to the fact that the age of those wishing to obtain a license for hunting or sporting weapons has been increased to 21 years. And the draft age in the country is 18 years. It turns out that people come to the army who have never held weapons in their hands. The head of Kalashnikov, Alan Lushnikov, drew attention to this contradiction.

According to him, it’s all about educational work, competent and responsible education. “Now contract soldiers are coming to the service who have never held weapons in their hands,” said Lushnikov. – How will they defend their homeland? … This needs to be brought up in men from childhood.

Lushnikov named ways to change the situation. In his opinion, it is important to ensure the availability of safe shooting exercises. “It is necessary to make sure that any person has the opportunity to come to an affordable, high-quality, well-equipped shooting range, just pick up a weapon and shoot,” Lushnikov emphasized. “He doesn’t need to keep it at home, he doesn’t need to buy a license so that he has access and can shoot.”
