According to the analytical company Group-IB, in the summer in Russia there was fixed double growth of leaks of personal data in comparison with spring. In general, over 140 databases got into the network in three months, and in August alone – 100. In total, more than 304 million lines of data got into the Internet in the summer.
There were 23 bases on underground forums and Telegram channels in June, and 17 in July. In August, a record of 100 bases was set as a result of a “mega-leak”, which included the databases of 75 Russian companies. At the same time, only 73 databases were published throughout the spring. Group-IB notes that only those databases that leaked to the network for the first time participated in the calculations.
The largest leaks were recorded in delivery companies (192 million lines), then in video services (43 million) and companies specializing in medical services (30 million). Most of the published databases are up-to-date for the spring and summer of this year, they include customer names, their phones, addresses, dates of birth, and in some you can find password hashes, passport details, order details and other information.
