Groom and museum caretaker may be included in the list of professions for alternative service

The Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation proposed expanding the list of professions for alternative service

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Russia advocates expanding the list of professions and positions for alternative civil service during the autumn conscription of 2024.

The list, which currently includes 149 professions, can be expanded to 224 positions, taking into account proposals from 7 federal and 78 regional executive authorities of the Russian Federation.

In particular, the list may include such professions as a disinfector, groom, video operator, lumberjack, sailor, ship’s cook, restorer of wooden architecture monuments, design engineer, museum caretaker.

In Russia, from January 22 to February 6 of this year, IT specialists who work in companies accredited by the Ministry of Digital Development can submit an application for a deferment from military service as part of the spring conscription through the State Services portal.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine over the past two years, due to mobilization, the number of graduate students in educational institutions grew to 20 thousand people, although in peacetime the figure was only 2 thousand. Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Kornienko said that the Cabinet of Ministers will have to deal with this phenomenon.
